All Natural Burlap Fruit Press Filter Bag for making Wine and Cider
In a time not that long ago, burlap sacks were the filter bag of choice used by savvy cider and wine makers! After much searching, we've finally sourced a food-safe burlap bag that we feel great about offering! This burlap is all natural and hydrocarbon free, thanks to the fibers being processed with vegetable oils instead of petroleum based oils. That means: No Chemicals, No Dyes or Off-Flavors! This product is a great choice for those wishing to eliminate polyester or nylon filter bags from their process, but looking for a product with more durability and flow than cotton fabrics or mesh can provide.
Burlap is still widely used within traditional rack and cloth cider press systems, popular in the Amish community as well as other old-time cider making operations. But. It also works great for lining home sized fruit presses of the basket variety. These bags are made extra long for twisting and folding over to prevent fruits splitting out.
Before using it simply wash the burlap bag in hot with water with no detergents. Allow it to air dry, place in your fruit press basket and fill with crushed apples, whole grapes or any other soft and pressable fruit! The bag can be washed and reused many times. It's also completely compostable, so once it has worn out simply return it to the earth! Suitable for lining fruit press baskets up to 30 Liters, measuring 12.5" in diameter.
Bag Measure 20"W by 30" tall. 10oz burlap. Made in India
- This product can leave small strands of fibers in the juice. You'll need to do a secondary filtering (which you should do anyway). A 100% cotton cloth or several layers of cheesecloth work great for this purpose.
- This product may have a faint rustic smell similar to hay or straw upon arrival, since it is made from natural jute fibers. Washing the product before use eliminates much of this. It will not impact or taint the flavors of juice products made using it.
