Caldwell’s vegetable starter culture is a result of 15 years of research and development and is specifically designed for vegetables. It contains the correct bacteria strains in ideal proportions and can speed-up fermentation in as little as 7 days with crispy results. This product ensures consistent and delicious fermented food projects. We even include a packet of this product with our Sauerkraut Starter Kit to help take the guesswork out of fermenting. Each box contains six individual pouches. Each pouch prepares 4 1/2 lbs. of raw vegetables. Made in Canada.
For our Vegan friends: As of May 13, 2014, Caldwell's has recently reformulated their vegetable starter and it is now dairy free. Ingredients: Sugar (as a carrier), active lactic bacteria (lactobacillus plantarum, leuconostoc mesenteroides and pediococcus acidilactici)
